Curriculum

San Jose Chinese School has accumulated over 40 years of rich teaching experience in South Bay. Our teaching purpose is to pass on the broad and profound Chinese culture and Chinese teaching to overseas students. We focus on cultivating students' Chinese listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, collaborating with diversified learning programs to enhance students' Chinese learning. We encourage parents to participate as much as possible with children as we believe that the interaction between parents and children can significantly help children's Chinese learning.  Good two-way communication between parents and schools is essential for students to succeed.

We provide K-12 Chinese teaching, from immersive classes, CSL (Chinese as a Second Language) classes, AP Chinese classes, and diversified extracurricular activities programs. Classes are taught for two hours on Saturdays for 32 weeks in a school year. The teacher-student ratio is 1:20.

Teachers assess student performance with attendance, class participation, homework, quizzes, and mid-/final exams. To help our students, we provide a homework center during office hours. We also hold a school-wise academic contest to give students an excellent opportunity to self-evaluate their Chinese learning.

The school is a non-profit organization open to the public. We adhere to a non-discriminatory policy: students' gender, race, religious belief, color, age, sexual orientation, or original nationality will not be considered for admission. The teachers we recruit are all fully qualified. We provide regular training programs for teachers and volunteer staff to strengthen the teaching and the services.
